Sidenote: Speaking of Labor Day
I heard about the immense amount of violence that occurred during the labor day parade. I don't understand why a large group of people can't come together without violence; more specifically BLACK people. Allow me to be raw for a moment. Black people always talk about being followed around stores and having people look at them funny, but with events like shootings at a labor day parade, can you really blame them?
I'm not saying its right to judge or stereotype any group of people, but I can't help but feel ashamed when I hear about these types of things. Yes, there may be other groups of people such as Hispanics, Indians, and White people doing the same amount of violence as black people but [NEWSFLASH!!!] blacks only make of 13% of America (Didn't know that did you?). Do you know what that means? That means if newscasters had to choose between reporting on crime in a black neighborhood and crime in a white neighborhood, they are most likely to choose the black neighborhood to report about because they don't want to offend the masses. We've got to do better.
