Episode 5: 1+1=3 / Trippin vs Falling

Kid's Say The Darndest Things (^_^)

So a little under a year ago, I had a talk with my little sister about the most frightening topic. (Im not even a parent yet! I'm SO not ready for this.) So one day, about a month or two into school, my little sister, my older sister and I were having some bonding time (Awwww). It was then she asked...

"WHAT'S A VIRGIN."

 The face of SHOCK(^_o) was comparable to that of Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone 1 and 2 combined. She went on to continue (though we really didn't want her to) 

"Some girls in my school were talking about how they were virgins and some other girls were saying they weren't virgins (WHAT?). They asked me and I didn't know what to say." (Aren't you supposed to be learning 1+1=2 not 1+1=3)

So my older sister and I collectively decided to tell her that a virgin is... 

• Virgin: (n.) a female who has had sex... kissed a boy on the lips and hugged a boy frontwards or a female who was kissed on the cheek and kissed the boy back on his cheek. (What? I panicked)

So ever since that moment, she has been asking everybody she meets (quick apology to all my friends) that haunting question "Are you a VIRGIN?" I quickly have to remind her to tell people the meaning of virgin (to eliminate any discrepancy. You know!). 

But the story continues...

• "I have a boyfriend. We have been going out since the 3rd day of summer camp" (>_< What the bleep, she could get a guy faster than I can. -_-)

So my sister and I began some serious questioning...

"Did he hug you" (Ewwww no)

"Does he hold your hand" (Gross, only on field trips)

"Did you kiss him" (NO...he kissed me)

We then told her that he was just a special friend. You start dating when you are looking for a husband. 

• "ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A HUSBAND?" (NOOO)

As far as I'm concerned, my little sister won't be kissing any boys until her High School Graduation (Thanks Maria). 

• So the QUESTION for today: When is the right best time to start telling kids about sex? (Good luck to all the parents and NEW parents out there.)
