I hereby dub Saturdays, Flashback Saturdays.
In order to keep it LIGHT....
lets rock with a FLASHBACK...
Lets flashback about 12 years ago (1999). I went to P.S. 176 in Cambria Heights (I'm a young'n) with my best friend who also lived 3 houses away from me (It was me and her against the world). I was awkward, Lil Bow Wow was jankin, and "Can I have a pencil" was the way to make a new friend (How did you guys meet? 'I asked for a pencil in the 4th grade'). One of my friends brought a Lunchables lunch and Oreo's to school for lunch everyday and always shared (Lunchables pizza, good times). I remember the boy everyone had a crush on was my class partner (No names *blushing*). In elementary school, they make EVERY excuse to take students out of class (Father's Field Day, Mothers Day Brunch, Field Trips, Shows, etc.)
The times I remember most are sitting outside in the summer rain (making mud pies and mud sandwiches). I remember the 2 boys on the block (who we swore we were going to marry even though they had cooties) the fireworks shows and the block parties, back when times were simple.
When staying out late meant
sitting on your porch until 2am;
dating a boy/girl meant
hugging in public;
'Do you want a drink' meant
'Would you like some soda';
'Let's go to my place' meant
we were having a sleepover;
and the highlight of the night was always the Mister Softee tune (I miss Garfield).
Kids are so different these days. Its all video games, television and boring.
- What is your fondest Elementary School memory?
